This rug is handwoven on a traditional loom from 100% natural jute, using a chunky braided weave that gives it real substance underfoot — firm and textural rather than soft and plush, which is exactly what you want in a living room, hallway or under a dining table.

The colour is the natural tone of the fibre, a warm tan with subtle variation where individual strands catch the light differently. That variation is the point: it gives the rug a living, slightly irregular surface that hides everyday dust and footfall far better than a flat synthetic pile, and it means the rug quietly coordinates with oak, walnut, rattan, linen and black without any effort from you.

Two ends are finished with a short knotted fringe, tied by hand, which softens the geometry and keeps the rug from looking like a machine-cut rectangle. The weave is tight enough to lie flat without curling at the corners, and the rug carries enough weight to stay put on timber or tile with a standard rug pad (recommended, and it will double the life of the fibres).

Care instructions

Vacuum regularly using suction only — a rotating beater bar will fray natural fibres. Rotate the rug every three to six months for even wear and sun exposure. Blot spills immediately with a clean, dry cloth; never saturate jute with water and never steam clean. Use a rug pad underneath on hard floors. Shedding is normal for the first few weeks and will taper off; a new jute rug may also carry a faint natural grassy scent that dissipates within days.
