The base is a softly rounded ceramic form in a matte clay tone — a warm, earthy neutral that sits between terracotta and stone — with a gently tapered neck that draws the eye upward. The finish is matte rather than glossy on purpose: it absorbs light during the day so the lamp reads as a sculptural object, and avoids the hard specular highlight that glossy ceramics throw across a room.
The shade is a straight-sided drum in natural linen with a subtle slub in the weave. When lit, the linen filters the bulb into a wide, even wash rather than a hot spot, and the visible fibre gives the light a faintly textured, warm quality that paper and synthetic shades cannot replicate. Light escapes both up and down, so the ceiling picks up a soft glow and the surface underneath gets usable illumination — which is why the lamp works equally well beside a sofa, on a console in a hallway, or on a nightstand where you read for twenty minutes before sleeping.
Height is the detail most people get wrong, and this one is deliberate: at roughly 24 inches to the top of the shade, the bottom of the shade sits near eye level when you are seated, so the bulb itself is hidden and you are not looking straight into a glare. Care instructions
Always unplug before cleaning. Dust the linen shade with a lint roller or the soft brush attachment of a vacuum; never submerge it or use water on the fabric.
